I just added one of my WordPress sites to Wordfence Central and now I’m seeing the following warning on the Wordfence admin screen in my site:

Your site is currently linked to Wordfence Central under a different site URL.?

I’m guessing this is due to having a staging version of the site. The Wordfence help recommends

click the “Clear Local Connection Data” button on the cloned site

but I don’t see that button anywhere in the Wordfence admin area of the staging site. Also, the staging site however is not accessible to the outside world.

The staging site isn’t on Wordfence Central. Both sites (the live and staging versions) are both installed at different subdomains on the same domain.

    Suggestions?

    Hi @billb101,

Thanks for reaching out. If your site is a single site with multiple domains or subdomains, and you have not cloned it while it was connected to Wordfence Central such as to create a staging environment, you can dismiss this message.

If you have cloned a site that was connected to Wordfence Central, such as to create a staging environment, this may cause conflicts since the connection data would be cloned. Is your staging site able to make outbound connections? On the staging site, in Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Other Tests, please clear all Wordfence Central connection data. This will clear the staging site’s connection to Wordfence Central and you can dismiss the message on the connected site.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Margaret
