• Hello, for 2 days I have problem with my website -I can’t login and can’t visit some sites in my website couse I have 500 error -I wrote to my hosting and they told me that I have error:

PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/init.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php56/lib/php’) in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/wordfence.php on line 51

When I saw it I was surprised couse in plugins folder I don’t have Wordfence plugin, so I through FTP send folder from July(couse I didn’t notice that my backup plugin don’t work), I send a new folder Wordfence from this site -all this things doesn’t work.

Now I have no clue how to solve this problem

  • Hi adsss,
You must have a wordfence folder in wp-content/plugins because that folder is where the error is coming from. What has happened is that Wordfence has attempted to auto update but for some reason got interrupted and the plugin files became corrupt. Rename or delete the wordfence folder in wp-content/plugins and the error will dissapear. If you are unable to locate the wordfence folder in wp-content please ask your host to help you find it. It has to be there because it is referenced in the error message.

May it is better to dont select AUTO UPDATE for wordfence?

Auto update can be horrible if you have a site that needs 24/7 uptime. I keep it turned off most of the time for my more important websites, then hit the “big red” update switch when I’ve got a few hours to fix things if it all goes bad. The internet and associated software are actually in an infantile stage of development we will look back on in a few decades as a funny joke. But when dealing with an infant, one has to be aware of the situation. Automatic diaper changes simply do not happen. Automatic internet software updates? Not much better than changing diapers.

I was just enjoying Microsoft’s little friendly message that I’m not to power down my computer until it’s done updating — automatically. Problem, I had to grab the laptop, switch it off, and travel to an appointment. Diaper changes can be inconvenient, I guess…
