Hello @aflorarte and thanks for reaching out to us!

It sounds like the WAF might be blocking the Elementor requests. Learning Mode should resolve these issues for you.

From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform the actions that were causing issues. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. After you have finished performing the actions, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting. Now test to see if these actions work correctly.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/ is an amazing resource for learning more about the WAF and learning mode.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks again!

    Hello, @wfadam

Thank you so much for your help, however the tip you have just provided did not resolve the issue. I followed every step of your suggestion and the issue still persists, I cannot edit with Elementor while having WordFence active.

Please notice that this is something new. Both these plugins have been acting together without problems.

Under “Allowed Services” I have the following enabled except for ManageWP.

Could this be causing the issue??? Any special settings to be applied??

    Sucuri
    Facebook
    Uptime Robot
    StatusCake
ManageWP -----------------this is the only one set as "disabled"
    Seznam Search Engine

Any further ideas will be so much appreciated !

If you could do the following for me, it might get us some more information to see what is happening.

    1. Could you open Elementor with a browser console window open and attempt to do the actions that don’t work. Are you seeing any errors in the Console tab or Network tab? If so, could you screenshot them and post them?
    2. When you open Elementor and try to perform this action, are you seeing any blocks in the Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic page? If so, screenshot that for me to review.
    3. Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: Make sure to block out any personal information from screenshots such as IP addresses, site URLs, and usernames.

    Thanks again!

When I try to visit the links you provided, I am getting a Access denied message.

Let me know once you resolve that, in the meantime, I will look into your diagnostic to see if anything looks out of place.

    Thanks again!

    Hello, and thank you

It is so strange that you cannot access.

I tried from Incognito mode and could access without issues.
I also could access after having logged out as admin. Both ways I can open every link without issues.

I have just asked my hosting provider to explore the isue. Hopefully the issue should be fixed shortly, I would suggest that you try again later

    Thank you !

It looks like it might actually be a Cloudflare error.

    Hello again.

So sorry to hear that you still cannot access them. Did you try clicking on them several times, or cleaning browser cache??

I don′t think it is a CloudFlare issue as I work on CloudFlare Develpment Mode Please notice that I can reach those images even from my cell phone.

However, yesterday my hosting provider configured to NOT PROTECT these files from .htaccess. so they should be available for now if you may want to try again.

I hope you can access them now

    Thank you so much

I am so sorry @aflorarte ! I did open this in my VM without any issues.

So I am seeing a 500 on the admin-ajax.php file and I do see query monitor running. I am suspecting that your server resources are capped and it’s running into an issue when trying to process another request.

Try to disable Query Monitor as it’s a HUGE hit to server resources. Then try to open Elementor again. I love Query Monitor but I always suggest only running it when you need it as it can be a resource hog.

Let me know what you find!

    Thanks again!

    Hello again!!

Well, I′m glad that you could finally open the files

    About Query Monitor.
Yes, I am aware it is huge, but I installed it and kept it installed in order to help anyone helping me read the errors. I don′t know what they mean and I installed Query Monitor in case it could help trace the origin of this issue.

As you suggested, I have deactivated QueryMonitor and the issue still persists.

So sorry to say that Elementor only edits with WordFEnce deactivated.

Any further ideas will be so much appreciated.

    Thanks again!!

We could try to allowlist the admin-ajax.php for use but i am not sure if that is what might be causing the issue.

    1. Go to Wordfence -> All Options > Allowlisted URLs.
    3. Put /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php for the URL
    4. Select Param Type: POST Body for the dropdown
    5. Put actions for the Param Name
    6. Click Add
    7. Click Save Changes in the top right corner

See if this allows the admin-ajax.php calls within Elementor.

Thanks again for being so patient as Learning using is the fix with this issue. I feel something else might be going on.

    Thanks again!

    Hello again!

Thank you so much for your efforts!!!. I have followed your instructions and made the changes but unfortunately issue still persists, and I can edit with Elementor if and only if Wordfence is deactivated.

I am placing a screenshot for your convenience, to make sure that I have made the right corrections, and in case I misunderstood and made mistakes, please let me know.

Do you happen to have any PHP error logs or access logs that I can look at? The 500 error still is making me think it’s something to do with resources. An error log might help me see what is happening exactly.

If you have then, email them to wftest @ wordfence . com with the subject “aflorarte for WFADAM”. Let me know once you send them!

    Thanks again!

    Hello again!

Because this question exceeds by far my knowledge I have forwarded your query to my hosting provider. I will reply with more specific data as soon as I receive their feedback.

    Thank you so much, WFAdam!!

    Hello again,

I was instructed to double check in my CPanel: hosting/scripting_config/ssi/error_logs and there are no error logs registered for this website.

    However my hosting provider wrote:

After contacting WordFence support, if any server settings need to be updated from our end, please let us know.

Today a WordFence note showed up again in my Dashboard, perhaps I should do something about it. (this is the second time I get this alert)

“La última actualización de reglas para el cortafuegos de aplicaciones web de Wordfence no tuvo éxito. La última comprobación de actualización con éxito fue 11/09/2021 18:15, por lo que a este sitio le pueden faltar nuevas reglas agregadas desde entonces. Podés esperar al siguiente intento automático en 27/09/2021 12:54 o intentar Actualizar manualmente haciendo clic en el botón “Actualizar manualmente las reglas” que aparece debajo de la lista de reglas.”

    From Google translator:
The latest rule update for the Wordfence web application firewall was unsuccessful. The last successful update check was 09/11/2021 18:15 so this site may be missing new rules added since then. You can wait for the next automatic attempt on 09/27/2021 12:54 or try to Update manually by clicking the “Update rules” button that appears below the list of rules.

    Query Monitor says:

    PHP Errors:
    Directive ‘allow_url_include’ is deprecated

    LOGS:
    No data logged.

    I hope this helps

    Thanks you!
