• Good evening,

I-m using WordPress 4.5.2 with Wordfence Version 6.1.7, on Cloudlinux and i have noticed a big difference in e-mail alerts sent to my personal e-mail address (hosted address same as the domain name).

Using Diagnostics to send a test e-mail, Send report by Mail and Email log activity, i receive each message without any problems. When logging as admin to my site i receive a e-mail notification, but lets say i log out and then log in after a few minutes, i don`t receive another notification.

This situation is not related to this topic https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordfence-stopped-emailing-alerts but i have checked the IP address and its clean, also added the domain name in Spam Assasin exceptions.

Is this an issue on my side or is just a functionality/feature of Wordfence to send e-mail only in a certain interval of minutes even if the admin user is logging to the site several times ?

  • Hi creatura85,

I might temporarily change the email address and see if that does anything. I will check with the development team and see if this is functioning as intended. It very well could be. I know that the amount of emails sent / received during a small window of time is viewed negatively by spam filters.

Let me know what you find out and I will get you an update when I hear back from the team.

I forgot to ask what you have the “Maximum email alerts to send per hour” set to on the Wordfence Options page. That is the first thing to check. In your case that should be set to 0 if you want to receive all alerts. I will still check with the dev team and see what they say.

    Hello,

“Maximum email alerts to send per hour” is set to 0.

As for the e-mail alerts lets say if i login to my website now i get an alert. Logging out and then logging in after a few minutes i don`t receive the alert, maybe it rate limited based on username or IP address.

Thank you for your answer, waiting for the reply of the devs.

    Same for me.
No email alerts on logging in after a few minutes
No email alerts on updating plugins
    No log for scan
This since WordPress updated to last version

    WordFence 6.1.8
    WordPress 4.5.2

Hi 2olive, this was working correctly for you before the latest update?

@creatura85, has this functionality worked as desired in a previous version?

    Hi wflandon,
Yes, WordFence worked perfectly before the latest update. Never had such issues.

@wflandon, hello, yes, before the update the plugin would have sent me an e-mail for each time i was logging in the WordPress Dashboard with my admin username.
