  • Hello topcat,
that looks like a mismatch when Wordfence is trying to compare your local file versions to the versions in repository. If you click to see changes made on a file (for example main.css) do you see any differences?

I’m having the same problem since yesterday, 7-25-2015. This is the message I received yesterday and today on my Dashboard.

    Updating Plugin Wordfence Security (2/2)

    Downloading update from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/wordfence.6.1.12.zip…
    Unpacking the update…

An error occurred while updating Wordfence Security: Could not copy file. wordfence/vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/cacert.pem

    My blog is: https://www.southernfriedscribe.com

Wordfence updated correctly on my other two blogs.

This also occurred with the Photo Galley but I guess that’s for another post. My knowledge of code is minuscule and all I know is I’m getting a 404 error that shows up in my log.

Can you tell me how to fix the problem so I can get my updates to work. I’m afraid to blog without Wordfence updated. Can you tell if I’ve been hacked. I have both Wordfence and iThemes security on all 3 blogs. But I really don’t know much what I’m doing when it comes to technical stuff. I’m a writer, mainly in print, and an almost 60 year-old grandma, so please bear with me.

If this involves code, my son who is also my admin can fix it. Code scares me.

    Thanks.

    Hello trease,
this means the permissions on that file are incorrect. You can try logging in to your site via SSH/FTP and delete the file and then try to run update again.
