    Hi,
I am using following Wordfence firewall setting on one of my site:

If anyone’s requests exceed: “5 per minute (1 every 12 seconds)” then “throttle it”
If a crawler’s page views exceed: “4 per minute (1 every 15 seconds)” then “throttle it”
If a human’s page views exceed: “5 per minute (1 every 12 seconds)” then “throttle it”
How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule: 5 minutes

I am using same firewall settings for some time now and I never faced any issue. Today, after getting multiple reports I visited my website from a different browser (as a normal user) and I was throttled while trying to access third page of my website.

Wordfence is allowing me to access my website from another browser (where I am signed-in as administrator) but it is not allowing me to view a single page as a normal user even though I am using whitelisted IP to access my website.

I tried every possible way (allowing unlimited access, disabling firewall) to get access to my site but I received following message each time

“exceeded the maximum global request per minute for crawlers or human”

    Hi,

5 page views is very low. that’s about 1 every 12 seconds which is quite easy to do.

I would recommend increasing that setting and consider inceasing the others. If anyone is really attacking your site they’ll be doing a much higher request rate – like one every second if they’re aggressively crawling your site.

    Regards,

    Mark.
