I’m trying to get Publicize to post my WP Posts to Facebook. WordFence seems to be blocking that somehow. I have no idea what to change. I did try adding in the facebook crawler agent in Browser user-agent to ignore: facebookexternalhit/1.1 but that doesn’t seem to have allowed Facebook through. So what else can I try? Publicize is linking to my Facebook account successfully because that’s showing up above “Publish”.

Are you seeing the posts appear in Facebook with a Wordfence error message instead of the content? If so, which message?

Or, if the posts aren’t appearing at all, do you see facebook’s atttempts being blocked on Wordfence’s Live Traffic page?

You can try temporarily turning off “Enable firewall” in Wordfence’s Options page just before publishing a post, then publish it and see if it appears on Facebook — then turn the firewall option back on. (If it works, I don’t recommend leaving it off, but that would confirm if Wordfence’s firewall is blocking it.)

We’re not getting an error message on Facebook…the posts just don’t appear. I tried disabling the Wordfence firewall before posting but that didn’t make a difference. Also haven’t seen any blocks on Live Traffic, so I guess the firewall is not the issue.
Anything else we should be checking for in Options or elsewhere?
    Thanks!

Ok, I’m not sure if the problem is related to Wordfence then — it might be a different plugin, or something your host is blocking unintentionally.

We have a link to a facebook debugging tool in our documentation, which might be able to tell you more, though:

Hello, I am trying the same thing, publish a news post to facebook, I have done it many times, but since we installed wordfence we get this error message:
Your accesss to this site has been limited.
Improtant note for site admins: If you are the administrator if this website note that your access has been limited because you broke on of the Wordfence firewall rules. The reason your access was limited is “access from your area has been temporarily limited for security reasons” If this is a fal
    …. and it stops there.
I have “unenabled” all firewall options, but this still does not fix the problem. What can we do?
    Thanks!

    ellenhaugen:

Normally, disabling the firewall should stop this from happening — try turning on the option “Disable config caching on your Wordfence Options page, then reload the page and see if you can disable the firewall again. (If your options were not saving properly, it could cause this problem.)

There are more details about Facebook troubleshooting on this page, if you need them:
Facebook links result in a Wordfence blocked message

If you’re still having trouble after this, can you create a new post in the forum, describing the problem, and include a link to this one? The www.ads-software.com rules ask us to keep each person’s issue in a separate post, and it also helps us keep track of open and resolved issues. Thanks!
