Wordfence Live Activity: Scan Engine Error: Wordfence could not start a scan

I just ran into something similar with the same error message.

There is an option to stop caching the WordFence configuration, turning off caching appears to have worked for me.

Somewhere in here this solution is mentioned.

There are a few different items that could cause a scan not to start. If you go to the Scan page, you can see a longer message in the yellow boxes, that may help.

If the message says that the “cron key” doesn’t match the saved key, there is a quick solution here:
