    Hello,

I’ve been using the free Wordfence since several years and the plugin is great. Since a couple of weeks Wordfence will not accept any configurtion I made on it. I select the protection level at the drop-down menu, click save and it will not save. I uninstalled Wordfence and installed it again, no joy. Your server’s IP noc1.wordfence.com is whitelisted in my server. Wordfence keeps warning that “Wordfence could not get an API key from the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by going to the Wordfence “options” page and hitting “Save Changes”. This will cause Wordfence to retry fetching an API key for you. If you keep seeing this error it usually means your WordPress server can’t connect to our scanning servers. You can try asking your WordPress host to allow your WordPress server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com.”

Any advice to solve this issue is welcome! ??

  • Check the database tables (link is near the bottom of the options page) and look for any needing repair.
Run the javaScript Console and check to see if any errors in red come up hen viewing the options page and trying to save it.

Let me know what you find.

    Hi, thank you.

Seems like WF needs phpinfo. I have it disabled for security reasons.

Warning: phpinfo() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/sysinfo.php on line 10

Not sure the database is ok, I paste below a sample of the WF database check:

Well, php.info was not the issue, as I have WordFence installed into another wordpress website an in the same server and it runs smoothly.

Please, let me know the steps on how to uninstall WordFence. I used the wordpress Uninstall feature and installed it again, it will continue with the same issue mentioned in my Origina Post. Looking forward to your reply.

    Hello,

please, WF Support, could you send me instructions on how to solve the issue? Automatic uninstall and re-install did not solve the issue.

    Hi,

If the initial options above did not help, try turning on “Disable config caching” near the bottom of the options page. This option is saved differently from the others, so if config caching is not working correctly, this option should still be able to save, and can fix the others.

If even that option cannot be saved, then it sounds like Wordfence’s database tables could not be created, or your mysql database user does not have “all privileges” on the whole database. (This can usually be fixed with phpmyadmin on most hosts, and some hosting companies are willing to help if you’re not sure how to do it.)
