I have the free version and would get regular email updates. However, recently I went in and couldn’t find the plugin in my plugin list and realized I was no longer getting updates. I went to reinstall and it says the destination folder already exists and it can’t install. But its still not showing. It’s been this way for probably a few months because I didn’t notice, and there has been a wordpress update and a theme update with no change. Also godaddy support can’t find it. Also WP and theme are up to date.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @lindyk, thanks for highlighting your issue.

Wordfence doesn’t disable or uninstall itself so the cause might be deliberate action by somebody with administrative access to your site or a failed plugin update. If you try reinstalling the plugin, you may need to manually delete the wp-content/plugins/wordfence folder first. Your settings and data should have remained in the database unless the plugin had been manually uninstalled and “Delete all Wordfence tables and data” was selected.

Make sure to check for administrative users you don’t recognize in WordPress > Users > All Users, just in case there is anything suspicious there. Delete any that you know shouldn’t have access.

I also notice your login page currently has a message at the footer that I believe is from?Limit Login Attempts Reloaded. I don’t expect that to have disabled Wordfence, but as we have Brute Force settings of our own that can be toggled off if you prefer LLAR for that, make sure conflicts or errors haven’t caused any other administrators on your site to disable Wordfence.

If you successfully reinstall Wordfence but the problem reoccurs in the near future, you may need to investigate the possibility that malware or malicious action could be involved.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
