    Hello,

We use the free Wordfence plugin on several websites on our webserver.
We managed the settings for all those sites with the mainwp plugin (wordfence addon).

Since the settings are saved the last time, scanning of all sites on the server is done between 11 and 12 a.m. Which means a large serverload during the day.

In the free version you are not able to schedule when the scan is done, but how is the scan planned in the free version? Is is scheduled after saving the settings?

Because since we managed all sites at the same time with the mainwp plugin which has an addon to set options for wordfence, it seems that all scans are done at the last time we changed settings.

We would like to spread the scan load during low traffic hours or at least not at the same time for alle sites with the free version.

  • Hi @webworkx!

Scan schedules for free sites are fetched from Wordfence Cloud Servers. We actually do make an attempt to spread them out so that you’ll not have all sites on a specific server scanning at the same time. So I’m not quite sure why you are seeing this behavior on your server.

If you go to the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page you can see which times scans are scheduled for on each individual site. If you gather some of those, you should be able to verify your hypothesis.

    Hi @webworkx,
Since we haven’t heard from you for a while I’m going to go ahead and resolve this thread. You are welcome to create a new one at any time!
