Wordfence Showing Incorrect IP Address

    Hello,

    WordFence is showing my IP address as different (68.65.xxx.xx) on a single website. On the rest, it shows my correct IP address (173.xxx.xxx.xx). Does the IP address change when using 2FA ?

    Hi @chambergeek, thanks for your question.

    IP detection shouldn’t be different between sites because of 2FA. It does sound like your IP is detecting as possibly the web server, or a load-balancer, which would result in everybody being blocked if one user/bot is blocked as their IPs are all seen the same. Take note of your IP – (note that this detection can sometimes not be 100% accurate on cellular phone network connections): https://www.whatsmyip.org

    Head over to Wordfence > All Options > General Wordfence Options > How does Wordfence get IPs and reference the area under that section that says Detected IPs and Your IP with this setting. Start from the top and check to see if any of the settings show that both of those show the same IP as the site above does.

    If you’re using Cloudflare, you will most likely need to select “Use the Cloudflare “CF-Connecting-IP” HTTP header to get a visitor IP. Only use if you’re using Cloudflare.”

    Hi @wfpeter

    Thank you for your response. You were correct, I needed to switch the setting to “Use Cloudflare….” Once I did that it showed my correct IP address. That solved our issues.
