Wordfence SImply Disappeared from WordPress with no Warnings or Notification

    Helllo,

    I noticed that Wordfecne just simply disappeared from my WP installation with no warning, notification etc.

    All my settings are also gone, 2FA for admin no longer active, and all other settings are gone.

    Any information will be greatly appreciated it.

  • Thanks for reaching out. It looks like the Wordfence automatic update failed. Can you please follow these instructions:

    • Log in to your site via FTP/SSH or any file browser your web host may be providing.
    • Locate the folder “wordfence” in /wp-content/plugins
    • Rename the /wordfence folder to /wordfence-old
    • Go to WordPress Plugins page and install Wordfence. Activate (the new) Wordfence.

    If you can also let me know which web host you are using, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

    I will try that. Thanks so much for your help.

    have just had similar experience with WF disappearing from client site BUT WF was not set to ‘auto update’ so now wondering what happened if this is the case? I shall still follow the recommendation above and can say that experience with hosting co has been that several sites have been hacked so wondering about how secure they are?
