Wordfence throttle/lockout messages being cached

  • Hi there,

    I just had an issue where the plugin cached a Wordfence ‘You are being throttled’ message, and started serving it to regular users. Is there any way around this? I’m guessing there is as I never had this issue using WPFC or W3TC.

    Thanks for reporting. Our team is looking into this. By the way, have you tried purging the cache?

    Hi @adeelkhan yup, purging the cache helped, however the plugin shouldn’t cache Wordfence error pages, otherwise we end up with a DoS scenario where a naughty bot gets throttled, but continues to try and access the site generating WF error pages on multiple URLs which then get served to legitimate traffic.
