Wordfence uses more memory for each scan

Actually, what you have entered in “How much memory should Wordfence request when scanning” option isn’t limiting the memory usage per scan, instead it’s used to increase the maximum allowed memory when Wordfence executes (and it only works on some websites).

Back to your question about this high memory usage, I suggest the following:
– Try excluding folders with large number of files on your server that you are sure they are safe (backup files, error/access logs and cache files), you can exclude these files from (Wordfence > Options => Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns.)
– Try turning off “Scan images, binary, and other files as if they were executable” if it was enabled and re-run a new scan after that.
