WordFence is warning me that the following files were left behind, not deleted, during the update to WordPress 6.6 Today. Is this correct or an error in WordFence actually?

    wp-includes/blocks/block/editor.min.css
    wp-includes/blocks/block/editor-rtl.min.css
    wp-includes/blocks/block/editor-rtl.css

According to WordFence those files are no longer used in current versions of WordPress. Is it safe to delete them? Should I upload a fresh copy of WordPress to our site because something went wrong during the upgrade?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @realact,

Those files are no longer present and are safe to remove.

I’ve opened a core ticket to make sure that happens automatically, it should’ve been in 6.6, but it’ll be in 6.6.1.

@dd32 Thank you for creating the ticket, I have now deleted the files.

When I deleted the 4 files it broke my website and putting the files back did not fix it. I did a restore of a backup, and that did not fix it. I had to get technical support from an expert and from Inmotion Hosting to resolve the issue with another complete restore, and those files are now gone, after the 6.6.1 update.

    wp-includes/blocks/block/editor.css, wp-includes/blocks/block/editor.min.css, wp-includes/blocks/block/editor-rtl.css, wp-includes/blocks/block/editor-rtl.css

@doug341 that’s strange, I deleted them without issue, however, are you sure you deleted the right files? I mentioned 3 files, not 4 as you say.

    Regards!
