• In the most recent versions of Wordfence, the options to ignore IP addresses or specific user logins does not seem to be working. I have listed the admin’s username and his IP address in the options to ignore them, and yet they are still logged in Live Traffic.

Is there a fix for this?

    Using version 6.1.10 (Free version).

  • “List of comma separated usernames to ignore:” is not working for me either. I tested with both my whitelisted IP address as well as another IP using my VPN. Is this feature actually being used by anyone?

I guess this means that ensuring basic features of the product actually work is not a priority, and neither is responding to customer concerns.

    Hi nathanlake2,
I’ve just checked our system and I can confirm the dev team is aware of this issue (reference number: #1775) and getting it fixed is just a matter of time (however, I don’t have an ETA yet).

I apologize for this inconvenience and my late reply.

    Thanks.

Nathan, I’m a heavy and constant user of Wordfence. I stick with it because conceptually it is the best in my opinion, but to be the best in reality they do clearly need to get better and keeping everything working as promised. It’s quite a time waster when you assume a feature is working, depend on it, then discover it is not! Let’s watch and see if it gets more stable. Recent constant updates and the Firewall have been real time users for those of us in the trenches… It easily took a full day out of my life to get the Firewall working on a few sites, and it’s actually never blocked one threat from the word go. Perhaps that indicates Wordfence is doing its job in basic IP blockage, but one does have to wonder… Adding 30 or 40 bad URLs used by hack bots to the “Block Immediately” list is incredibly effective, for example, provided the blocking is set up for a day or two. I am absolutely using this feature. I review my live traffic just about every day and have my primary users and/or their ip addresses set to be ignored. The list I have to review gets a lot longer and more time consuming if I have to scroll past them to find the log entries I really want to view…the bad guys.

Me too. ISP changes my IP number daily, so WF is set to Not log admin names. But it logs my actions anyway, and other admins. Major bother because, yes, we too very much appreciate being able to quick-check who else is doing what, know that the site is serving. Do not care to watch staff. Happy to know this behavior is not an errant action at my end.
A feature worth maintaining for sure! (Thank you)

Thanks for the posts, I can see the usefulness of the ignore user names option, I hope they get it working soon… MTN

While we are on the subject, have your devs look at a couple other new issues.

    1. When I log in and immediately go the dashboard, Wordfence creates from 3-10 records in Live Traffic. This only started happening a 2-4 weeks ago.

    2. Recently, Wordfence has become very erratic about identoyfing a hit as being human. I never see a non-human hit logged as human, but I see MANY human hits (mine included) categorized as bots. This has been going on for quite some time.

    3. Blocked IPs are showing up in the Live Traffic report. This is new behavior. They are flagged as blocked, but still show up. Does this mean they got in?
