• Hi everybody,

I am quite new to wordpress MS and am sorry for some stupid questions ??

I am planning a wordpress site with seven menu entries. Users can register and should be able to post new blogs or single lines of text on each menu entry. Others should then be able to comment these posts.

If possible, a “like” and rate button should also exist and the top rated and most clicked (or rated) ideas/entries should be automatically be summarized on some extra page…

What best to use for thsi scenario? WordPress MS, a forum (like buddypress or tal.ki) or is there nothing out of the box?

Thanks a lot in advance and have a wonderful time,
    Michael

  • What you;re looking for is pretty much mostly extra plugins, which are available.

should be able to post new blogs

Some clarification here: I think you mean a blog post. MS is for multiple whole blogs, like wordpress.COM offers.

You may also want to look into buddypress.org.

    Hi Andrea,

thanks a lot for your quick reply…

And yes, I meant blog post… The users should be able just to enter some kind of short ideas or blogs (or something like that) ?? And then they should be able to rate the others, say that they like these ideas and also be able to discuss about some ideas… And there should be some kind of automatic top 10 system, if possible… This functionality should be the same on about seven pages on one website (or blog) and the eigth page should be the top 10 page… Does that make sense? So probably MS is nothing for me ??

So do you already know some good plugins that can do that out of the box or is buddypress.org the best choice?

Thanks a lot once more and have a wonderful day,
    Michael

BuddyPress is a plugin actually, and … I think that it may be your best bet here.

    Hi ipstenu,

thanks a lot for your quick tip…

yes I know that buddypress is a plugin although I wrote to confusing to proof this knowledge ??

So thanks a lot and I will give buddypress a try,
    Michael

Seriously, set up a test site and start playing. The stuff you want to do will take *several* plugins.
