• We have just released Beta 1 of this plugin, and need some sanity testing for this release.

Here are a few demo sites that are running the plugin, stock nightly installs of wordpress g2 and the plugin:

    https://devtest.ozgreg.com/ | https://www.marcnjami.com/test/

    What does the plugin Do?

Seemless intergration between WP and G2, sharing User Accounts, Sharing Permission Groups. Ability to post Photos, Albums into Blog Entries. Same look of WP giving the impression of one application. Plus all the standard features of G2 and WP, just brought together under one roof. Also included is a new G2 template and layout specificly designed for WordPress users (Think of it as a mix of the sirux and matrix layouts)

You can download the plugin from the download section of the community board below, OR you can get the subversion release.

The community for the project is here: https://wpg2.ozgreg.com/

You can get the Subversion release here: https://dev.wp-plugins.org/
    To checkout the SVN release:
    svn co https://svn.wp-plugins.org/wp-gallery2/

There is still much left to be done, there are still bugs present, but we are making progress! Let us know your thoughts!

  • Wow, looks really nice.

I think I’ll start using this.

We think it is coming along nicely!

yeah im using this coz i just love the square thumbnails!

The second test URL has broken images, but the first one works smoothly. This is quite nice. When you say “seamless integration,” though, do you mean it combines the two scripts within the plugin, or do you have to have G2 on your server already–it just combines the logins and interfaces? Also, what if your G2, assuming you already have to have the script and it’s NOT part of the plugin as well, is on a different subdomain?

Other than those questions I’ve got, this looks like a lifesaver for many, myself included!

Yep, I’ve have been trying my best to “break” the plugin. So I configured it badly to see the end result. As you noticed it didn’t turn out pretty. ??

When we say seemless we mean that end users will be givin the impression of one application as opposed to two.

You need to have G2 installed on your server already, and yes it combines the logins, UI, G2 perm groups and allows you to display a variety of image “blocks” within wordpress.

As for the subdomain question I have no good answer for you. It really depends on your setup. If you search the boards you will see that some users are running into issues with the way Gallery2 embed.php is written (not the fault of the plugin) and how it works with subdomains. We have had reports from other users that have gotten it to work. It really depends on your setup and where the files live. I can make it work but then again I have full control over my server. Hope this helps!

    Monkey Man,
thanks man, as you suggested at my site, I did upgrade everything and I am very pleased with the result.
    Kuddos to you!

Look great! And I love your tagline BTW… If you would we would like it if you could add you site to our Show Off thread. It is here: https://wpg2.ozgreg.com/viewforum.php?f=9

…added to show-off thread as kindly asked.

This looks great! I can’t wait to get home so that I can try it.

    Thanks!

We just release Beta 1.1 which addresses some permalink and image block issues. ??

    Thread Starter climbingmonkey

    (@climbingmonkey)

Oh and the URL for my test site has changed. Now it is: https://test.marcnjami.com/. Gallery2 doesn’t play well when mixing domains and that is why the URL above doesn’t show pretty pictures. ??

Still using a “trial and error” approach to the url_rewrite. Almost seems in order, but I cannot get <wpg2>/parishioners/</wpg2> to work, only specific images using wpg2id>. Any suggestions?

    https://www.stjohnsboulder.org/wp-gallery2.php

    https://www.stjohnsboulder.org/worship/labyrinth/
(the last picture displays an image using wpg2id and underneath is my attempt to display an album.)

    In particular, this one:
    https://www.stjohnsboulder.org/gallery2/v/parishioners/

Not complaining as this is an excellent plugin, just hoping to get this last bit to work ??

    Thread Starter climbingmonkey

    (@climbingmonkey)

no worries… ?? Try removing the leading slash… The docs need a little tweaking and it’s on my list for the week. (got some template revisions as well)

    Instead of this: <wpg2>/parishioners/</wpg2>
    Try this: <wpg2>parishioners/</wpg2>

Let me know. And your site is looking much better btw!

    (@climbingmonkey)

Oh and if that doesn’t work (it should sinces it’s not a sub-album) we will fix it in the next release cycle. After a little parusing of our forums I found this: https://wpg2.ozgreg.com/viewtopic.php?t=85

Which means we know about it and will fix it up proper. ??

Thanks, it did work and I was able also to get a subalbum of pics to show. I had tried removing the slash before and it did not work, but I think perhaps it was before I got the permalinks working properly (lucked into that ??
