• I’ve upgraded my installation from 2.0.4 to 2.1.

The original WordPress installation was 2.0.4 installed via cPanel Fantastico. I have read all the relevant information on the subject of upgrading a fantastico installation.

The installation went through without a hitch, easily installed no errors and all plugins turned on correctly.

    HOWEVER.

Now when I log into the admin section I have reduced features!

    For a Start…

Writing a post DOES have the tabs, Yet there are a heap of things missing, (all extended buttons eg images/links/alignment.) there are no options!

I cannot see the new Upload area.

So there are a heap of things that the new version (2.1) touts that do not show up for me.

Is there something that I need to change to fix this?

Any help on this would be great!

  • Faustina, did you try deactivating all Firefox extensions ?

Where is the option to do that exactly? I will try it and see if that makes a change.

Never mind, found how to disable them all, still no change.

Oh, and here is another thread of people having similar problems, none of these solutions worked for me either:

Did you try to modify the file tiny_mce_gzip.php as said in https://trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/3144 ?

You should have the line 131 as described in the patch.

None other solution had worked for me until this one.

Yes, I did that. It didn’t change anything for me, sitll is not working at all.

I want to second the comments by jillesvangurp. I have not been able to get the new wysiwyg editor to work at all in FF1.5/2.0 or IE6/7. If my knowledge of PHP was better than rubbish I would attempt to fix the problem myself. However, I have faith in Matt and his crew that they will release a fix to this problem asap, especially as many people may use WordPress as an important communication tool with their clients.

I hope someone really realizes how big the problem is with this. I have done every single thing suggested to me with no luck. I really just want it to work already.

Final solution for most known issue with tinymce in wp2.1:
    https://trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/3572

Just download file tiny_mce_gzip.php from here: https://trac.www.ads-software.com/attachment/ticket/3572/tiny_mce_gzip.phps?format=raw
    and replace it.

This really seems like a browser issue, since it works great for me in Firefox 2.0.0.1 on XP and IE 7 on same. On multiple machines.

Is this exclusively an OS X problem?

I have done the modification mentioned several times here, no change. I am using FF 2.0.0.1. I’m not sure what else to do, every solution suggested I have tried an nothing has ever worked.

I have tried all of these, and it’s not working. The thing is, it WAS working and then just stopped. I have 2 blogs with identical plugin configurations on the same host, same template etc. and one works, one doesn’t in adjacent tabs in the same FF browser.

What is going on? IE works fine as well, it’s just one blog that doesn’t….

I’ve got another problem when upgrading to Ella.
I didn’t do anything with my database and some posts (not all of them but 80% or something) show up TWICE. That’s really weird because in mijn admin panel I only see them once.

What have I done wrong or is there something to fix this, it’s REALLY bothering me!

sorry, posted twice. (gosh what’s wrong with ‘twice’ these days…)

Lynje: It’s probably an incompatible plugin. Deactivate your plugins until you figure out which one is doing it.
