WordPress 3.9.2

Hello,
I saw it reads WordPress 4.0 as minimum requirements, but is there a chance that it might work with 3.9.2 as well?

I am stuck on this old version out of various reasons and only recently get hammered with spam, so I′m look ing for a solution.
