• I’ve just installed WordPress 3.0 in a clean folder. Starting from scratch to learn the new system.
Using the new default 2010 theme, I’m attempting to select a custom background color, but every time I type in a letter or number of the hex code, an additional # is added to the front.
For example, if I place my cursor after the pre existing # and try to type ffffff for white, I end up with #######ffffff.
When the first thing I try to do with the new 3.0 doesn’t work, color me not amused. ??
Anybody else have this happening? Solutions?

  • This doesn’t happen to me. You might want to report it in WordPress Trac. It would be helpful to know what Operating System your using, as well as the browser and it’s version. Is there anything out of the ordinary about your browser, such as having JavaScript disabled or anything? If you do report this bug in trac, it might be helpful to point a link back to this topic and to reply to this topic with a link to the ticket.

Thanks for the response. I’ve never submitted a ticket before, but did so at your advice. The ticket number is #14152 (https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/14152)

As I mentioned there, I am personally on a Windows Vista 64 Home Premium computer using Internet Explorer 7. The server is a GoDaddy delux linux hosting package. I used their automatic installation tool to install WordPress 3.0, as I usually do.

Nothing disabled that I know of…no special settings. No other noticeable problems with general web work. Most of my sites are still in 2.8.5, one in 2.9.2.

What I have noticed now is that if I click on “save changes” even with all the additional #’s, the correct color will show. Apparently this isn’t a major problem, but it’s one of those weird things that might be better off being mentioned. While it’s not affecting anything now, whatever is creating it might affect something in the future.
