I have updated to the latest version, and now the site only works if I log in as administrator. If I logout, and just go in without logging in, I just get garbage. (Site https://www.recfish.co.nz )

I have tried all sorts, changing themes, redoing the update – without effect.

I did notice the following message after the last attempt at redoing the update:

Warning: include(/home/recfish/recfish.co.nz/.maintenance) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/recfish/recfish.co.nz/wp-includes/load.php on line 152

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘/home/recfish/recfish.co.nz/.maintenance’ for inclusion (include_path=’./:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/share/pear/:/usr/local/apache/phpinc/:/home/recfish/recfish.co.nz/’) in /home/recfish/recfish.co.nz/wp-includes/load.php on line 152

  • Hi,

First of all make backup of the database and files Then:

    1. Download WordPress again
    2. Delete all the files
    3. Re-upload WordPress
    4. Upload the backup up wp-config

Does it work now? If yes, then start uploading the theme and plugins one by one to see what is causing the issue.

    Thanks.
It seems like it was something in the files that I could not delete by ftp in the LondonLive theme subfolders.

When I got the ISP to delete them, and reinstalled for the 4th time, it worked.

Now I just have an issue around images not displaying on the main screen until I click on them.

I seem to recall that happening a few months ago, but I was not involved in sorting it out then.

    Any clues?

    Found it.
    Was a permissions issue.
Had to set the permission on the /wp-includes/themes/LondonLive/cache folder and files to “nobody”

Somehow the index.html file had administrator permissions and couldn’t be updated as required.

    Working now – everyone happy.
