  • I’m guessing that this has more to do with the way the theme is set up then with WordPress 3.5.

I would switch to Twenty Twelve just for a few minutes and see what happens to your images then. If they look great, then I would then revert back and ask the folks at elegant themes if they plan on coming up with a fix. Theme developers have known for months about WordPress 3.5 and should have been testing their themes. I do know that elegant themes has a lot of theme, but I’m sure that if there’s an easy fix, they are most likely working on it.

I have already tried to switch back to twenty twelve theme but the photo sizes are still small so I don’t think it has anything to do with the theme.

When I look at the source code of the first page you linked to (pencil skirts) I see this:

    <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://thelittlegreenhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Sm10.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-3433" title="Cue" src="https://i2.wp.com/thelittlegreenhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Sm10-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150" alt="" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
    <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://thelittlegreenhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Sm11.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-3434" title="Cue #2" src="https://i1.wp.com/thelittlegreenhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Sm11-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150" alt="" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>

The images inserted seem to be very small.

On the other page ( curry ) I see this:

    <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://thelittlegreenhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Wildflowers.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3521" alt="Wildflowers" src="https://i2.wp.com/thelittlegreenhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Wildflowers.jpg?resize=563%2C376" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>

This is also resized, but at least it’s the bigger one.

I don’t know why the images need resizing. Personally, I would go to the settings and make sure that the size of the large and medium is what you want the default to be and then when you insert an image, you just choose, large, medium or thumbnail.

With themes (at least the ones in the WP repo) the maximum width of images is set in the functions.php file. This ensures that images do not overlap the sidebar.

The images inserted into the skirt post were inserted as full size and then resized using the % settings to 60% using wordpress settings.

The images in the curry post were resized using a photo editor program to a smaller size and then uploaded to wordpress. No resizing happened within wordpress.

The images need resizing because if they are inserted at the full size, they overlap the right side bar.

I have tried to update the default image settings as you suggested but when I go to put images into the post, the default image settings haven’t changed to the new settings I have specified.

Hi lanijade, have you had any progress on this issue? i have the same problem.

Before i go to any further trouble trying to fix it i want to check of any other success or failures.

    it is frustrating though.

Only occurred in the update 3.5 and 3.5.1

    Thanks

Hi Ianijade, i followed the suggestion of Christine (thanks) and tried the twenty twelve test and yes this confirms to me that the chameleon theme is the issue.

All images re-sized with no problem so it’s either get them to look at it or change themes.

I think this can now be closed.
