WordPress 3.5 Breaks Subdomains for Multisite

  • Hi! I’m using WordPress 3.5.1 in a godaddy hosting domain. I want to implement a WP network with a main site in teo-soft.com and a secondary site in thevillage.teo-soft.com. I’ve already installed WP multisite. On godaddy site the domain, subdomain and hosting seem OK, but when i try to open dashboard or homepage of my secondary site i obtain the following message :
    “Forbidden

    You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

    Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache Server at thevillage.teo-soft.com Port 80″

    can you help me please?

  • I have almost the same problem.
    But have you check if user granted access to the site?
    Also, if you have 500 Error, show please your .htaccess file.

    The problem is that the subdomain (that is configured in godaddy panel) point to a subfolder called thevillage inside the server, so when i try from wordpress to open the site browser doesn’t find any page and any wp dashboard. How can i re-configure all the environment? thanks

    Assuming this really is a multisite installation, your subdomains should not be pointing to subfolders; they should be pointing to the folder in which WordPress is installed (most likely your public_html folder). You’ll need to edit that DNS configuration in your GoDaddy control panel.

    Can you also do that in cpanel on godaddy server if your using VPS or dedicated, under add subdomain * public_html

    Ok. I have changed my .htacces file according WP version 3.5.1 rules.
    The subdomain is already created in cpanel with the name of tne subdomain link.
    Now what i see hwen i clink con subdomain – visit dashboard is my primary site theme with a post:

    Nothing Here by That Name

    The subdomain is already created in cpanel with the name of tne subdomain link.

    That’s what Curtiss meant when he said it was wrong ?? That should point to the name of the MAIN domain.

    By default, cpanel puts your subdomains pointing to a path like this: /public_html/subdomain/

    You need to change that to this: /public_html/
