WordPress 3.6 Can't re-arrange or move menu items

  • Just added another item to my menu as normal and then went to move it to where I wanted it and it would not move. None of my menu items will move. I can no longer drag and drop them. I am using the standard 2010 theme…which has been updated…and no modifications. Have also noticed that clicking on the Categories or links section on the menu admin page no longer does anything. It’s almost like everything on the page is locked.

    Anyone else come across this before?

  • Deactivate all plugins, revert to Twenty Twelve theme temporarily and try again.

    Thanks. Tried that but no go. Still can’t move menu items around ??

    I am having the exact same problem.

    Also, start troubleshooting by clearing any caching on your site and browser, try another browser. If still not working, deactivate ALL plugins and switch to the twentytwelve theme.

    I’ve attempted moving the menus in Chrome, Firefox, Flock, Opera, Safari and then Explorer. Same results. I did find that if i add one item at a time, then save the menu (building an alternate menu to troubleshoot with). and then move one item by the links that appear at the bottom of each menu item (Never noticed those before – are they new?). And then save again. I could slowly (read agnoizingly) begin to piece my menu back to the way i want it. I wouldn’t call this a solution.

    Seems pointless starting a new thread for the same issue. That just dilutes everything and makes it harder to find an answer. chezshire has done everything I did with the same result so why start a new thread when the same answer is being sought?

    This should not be happening. It was working fine before I upgraded to 3.6. I had disabled all my plugins before the upgrade by the way. The menu admin doesn’t work with or without them enabled. It also does not work by switching to the Twenty Ten or Twenty Twelve themes. I am not using any customizations to the themes, they are as they came from WordPress.

    So, standard wordpress theme, no modifications, all plugins disabled, menu doesn’t work. Any ideas?

    What’s your site URL?

    Have you tried clearing any caching on your site and browser, and trying another browser?

    Try resetting the plugins folder – rename it to plugins.HOLD If that doesn’t work, do a manual reinstall – see:
