WordPress 3.6 Media player button invisible

  • Just updated to WordPress 3.6. I just used the built in embedded media player for the first time, for some sound files. It works, but the play/pause button is invisible. Anyone else notice this?

  • Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Thirteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    I see what you are suggesting. I have a lot of work invested in my present theme. If I switch themes, do the test, then switch back, will I lose anything? Because I have noticed before that when I switch to a new theme, some of the settings need to be redone in the new theme. But going back is hopefully OK?

    Your theme settings are saved in your database and will be retained for future use.

    I deactivated all plugins and switched to Twenty Thirteen theme. The media player button was still invisible. One more thing: I can see it flash white briefly as the page loads, but then it goes black.

    Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Yikes. OK. I assume I would be preserving wp-config.php

    Yes – and any root .htaccess file.
