WordPress 3.7.1. has no Visual Editor

    Hello,

    I have a new, clean install and the Visual Editor is not available.

    WordPress 3.7.1.

    WP Engine hosting

    NO Plugins — none.

    2012 and 2013 themes.

    The editor appears normal except it is fixed in TEXT mode and there are not buttons for VISUAL or TEXT.

    I’ve Googled and read many archaic posts about this and the answers always seem to revolve around deactivating plugins and changing the plugin directory name.

    I re-installed 3.7.1 and nothing changed.

    This happened previously back around 3.6 also.

    FOUND A SOLUTION:

    (it worked in my case)

    DISABLE Visual Editor in your User Profile

    1. Go to Users > your user profile
    2. CHECK (select) Disable the visual editor when writing
    3. Click Update Profile
    4. Go to any Post or Page
    5. Verify the visual editor is disabled (missing)

    ENABLE Visual Editor in your User Profile

    1. Go back to Users > your user profile
    2. UNcheck (DEselect) Disable the visual editor when writing
    3. Click Update Profile
    4. Go to any Post or Page
    5. Verify the visual editor is ENabled (available)
    6. Click Visual and Text tabs to verify function

    Glad it helped.

    I ran into the same thing again on WordPress 3.8.

    Seems like this is something that the people at WordPress could fix ??

    According to recent statistics 0.00137% of 1/10th of a percent of the Internet is used for content about resolving this recurring issue with each new generation of WordPress.
