• Since updating my site, I’ve been unable to install new themes or plugins. First, I tried installing a plugin called “Add Meta Tags”. Installation was through my site’s admin and went smoothly, but when I clicked on “Activate”, the entire site went blank; all I had was a white screen. Suspecting that the new plugin might be the problem, I went into my site’s file manager to simply delete the new plugin, and then the admin loaded fine.

But then I tried to install a new theme, “Catch-Kathmandu”. Originally I attempted to install directly from my admin page, but when I pulled up the box to search for it, I got this message:

An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

So I downloaded it from www.ads-software.com and then uploaded it through my admin page. Once again, as soon as I clicked “Activate”, my admin page went white, and once I deleted the files from my file manager the admin page went back to normal.

  • It is quite clear that the problem is within your server’s configuration. My advice: check the web server’s error log or PHP’s error log. If you don’t have access to them, file a request to your hosting provider.

Last but not least, despite figuring out that the issue with the activation was NOT a problem of the ‘Add-Meta-Tags’ plugin, you still thought it would be right to put a one-star rating on my plugin! Please, don’t do this. Show a little more respect to those who provide you with useful software for free. Please be kind enough to remove or change that rating.

    Thanks

Also check if your web server has any security modules enabled, like mod-security. The default configuration of such modules does not usually work out-of-the-box with web applications. It needs to be customized.

Of course! I should’ve remembered to do that earlier!
