WordPress 3.9 Running SUPER SLOW!!!

  • Hello,

    For the past month or so, my WordPresses have been horribly slow. This includes the actual website AND dashboard.

    We have spent the past 2 weeks on the phone with my hosting – GoDaddy – and they have run every kind of test and nothing is coming up as an issue with the hosting or the database connection.

    First off – I have not done anything new to the designs and have not added any new plugins.

    I am are freaking out as it is taking up to 15 or 20 seconds to go from one page to the next. Also, saving an update can sometimes take several minutes. And in addition to taking forever to save and update, sometimes it won’t update at all. My Preview button isn’t working and it’s very frustrating and time consuming getting anything done!

    I have found several postings about this issue, and no resolutions!

    Is it possible that WordPress 3.9 has an issue?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
