• I tried updating to 4.7.4 but it crashes my site. There is no error message, the page just goes white. I can’t look at the front end of the site or the back end. the page is just white. I had a backup so I restored my site via backup, but I can’t update to 4.7.4. I tried clearing cashe and deactivating the Super Cashe Plugin but it still did the same thing. I updated the plugins that needed updating then tried it again but still the same thing.

    Try a manual update: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

If you still get a dead site after that, you’ll need to do a little digging.

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles. https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/

This new update has given me nothing but problems. The update via the backend wouldnt work. it kept erroring out so i had to manually install it

then the plugins wouldn’t update in the backend without erroring out.

Text widgets don’t save or update

when i try to update one specific plugin, it errors out and then the folder is just gone from the plugins folder….

I can’t be the only one experiencing a lot of problems with v.4.7.4

I can’t get it installed without crashing my site. I reverted back and will not update it. I have checked all my plugins and if I want my site to look and function the way it is now I will not update until I know all bugs are fixed.

WordPress needs to figure this out because we should not have these kinds of problems. I took auto update off because I don’t trust the updates anymore.

4.7.4 is a nightmare for me. I’m stopping all future WP auto-updating until a version comes out that works, meanwhile I may have to just shut down my blog and walk away instead.
My custom header is gone and there is no option whatever to replace it, I’ve done every suggestion I can find, installed the few plugins that supposedly fix this, nothing works. The login function is messed up, it no longer keeps me logged in after checking the keep me logged in box. This is a caching problem that 4 tech on my service provider, Bluehost, have tried to fix and can’t.

When WP first tried to auto-update, it couldn’t because a plugin, Sticky Posts, was incompatible, so it corrupted Sticky Posts and the login function. This affects more than just my logging in, it prevented my readers from leaving comments as well because it required them to re-log in when they tried to comment, re-log in when they tried to return to the Home page….

Bluehost was able to finally delete all my plugins and install the 4.7.4 update, whereupon my header disappeared and absolutely nothing will get it back that I’ve tried… for 3 days, and I still have a caching problem logging in, I have to hit CTRL – F5, then it stays logged in.

After deactivating all my plugins, then updating to WordPress 4.7.4, then reactivating them 1 at a time, I found that WooCommerce plugin crashes my site. Everything works just fine before updating to 4.7.4. I have reverted back to 4.7.3. Please let me know how to use this plugin. I use X-Theme with Cornerstone. Why is WooCommerce conflicting with WordPress 4.7.4?

Also, if I keep all plugins active and only deactivate WooCommerce, then do the 4.7.4 update, it still crashes.

Here is a list of plugins that I have active on my site.
    Contact Form 7
    Cornerstone
    Duplicate Page
    Essential Grid
    Flamingo
    Formidable forms
    Jetpack
    MailChimp for WordPress
    Popup Maker
    Really Simple SSL
    Slider Revolution
    WooCommerce
    WooCommerce Services
    WP Super Cache
    X-Custom 404
    X-Google Analytics
    X-Smooth Scroll
    X-Terms of Use
    X-Typekit
    X-Under Constriction
    Yoast SEO

Please help… I don’t know how to debug… I’m not that advanced and need better instruction or I need someone to look at my site and help me figure out how to fix this and update to 4.7.4. This is very frustrating.

    @cncpros:

I’m using WooCommerce on several 4.7.4 sites. There’s no base conflict. Maybe your theme? Does it work if you switch the theme to twentysomething?

    Thread Starter cncpros

    (@cncpros)

The thing is, I like X-theme and I’m not going to switch themes. I tried switching themes to Twenty Seventeen, left all my plugins active, tried the update and it crashed.

I switched to Twenty Seventeen, deactivated all plugins, updated to 4.7.4, activated cornerstone, activated WooCommerce and it crashed. Then I tried the same thing but deactivated all plugins, then updated, then activated woocommerce, it was fine, then activated cornerstone and it crashed. It seems to be those two plugins together that make it crash. If I activate Cornerstone 1st it’s fine, then activate Woocommerce 2nd, it crashes. Same thing if I do it the opposite way.

I have another site that I manage and I use X-Theme with Cornerstone and it is updated to WordPress 4.7.4 and everything is fine. That site doesn’t have WooCommerce.

I don’t know what else to do.

I’d try contacting support for X-Theme and Cornerstone and see if they have a solution.
