• my host upgraded PHP 7.0 to 7.1 and now I’m getting an error that used to associated with an old version of WordPress;

    empty string
    …/wp-includes/class.wp-scripts.php on line 447

I had read it was related to pop-ups, can anyone elaborate on specifics that cause this line to fail, I’m running Woocommerce and some Yith add ons, I started deactivating but the site is live; so I had the host roll the PHP version back for now, but that won;t always be an option. any insight would e great as I really want to know why not just how to fix it.

    Hi!

    Thanks for reaching out!

This is the first report of such an issue so it may be just related to your setup.

What message exactly were you getting? Was it an error, a notice, a fatal error..?

Also, what happened when you disabled all plugins and any custom code (such as custom themes)?

    Kind Regards,
    -Roch

I have exactly the same issue, WP 4.8.2 and Php 7.1.11

Warning: Cannot assign an empty string to a string offset in */class.wp-scripts.php on line 447

Is there an solution for this?

    Hi!

    Thanks for your reply.

Since we didn’t get a response and no other reports of this issue we didn’t work on it.

Please kindly open a new topic with the full error message so we can check. Also in the meantime please kindly check how it works with no other plugins, and using the default theme.

Also, please let us know if that breaks any kind of function, as warnings are often harmless.

    Thanks!

I have the same issue. Just upgraded to PHP 7.1 with WP 4.8.3

Warning: Cannot assign an empty string to a string offset in *class.wp-scripts.php on line 447

Nothing was changed with theme, plugins, etc. Just the update to PHP 7.1
