wordpress 404 Not Found nginx

Check that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

Where I can check that?

Unfortunately, nginx is not my forte (I’m more of an Apache girl) but it definitely seems to be a url rewriting issue

I tried this at end of file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf

location / {
index index.php index.html index.htm;
try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$args;
}
location /wordpress/ {
try_files $uri $uri/ /wordpress/index.php?$args;
}

But I obtain this in log:
2016/08/01 17:28:35 [emerg] 1262#0: “location” directive is not allowed here in /etc/nginx/nginx.conf:88

Is possible that your problem is that you don’t need the $args; variable at the end.

Once I removed the arguments after index.php permalinks worked like a charm.
