Hi,

I have the page /portfolio/ set as my homepage and since i have more than 8 items in my portfolio, it used to have pages. And the pagination in homepage worked fine.

domain/portfolio/page/2 and domain/portfolio/page/2 were working and pointing to the same page.

But after the recent 4.4.1 update, it is not working as it is supposed to.

domain/page/2 is redirecting to domain/

Can anyone let me know what to do, to fix this issue?

If the issue is the same as Devin says, then the patch should solve it – you can certainly give it a try if you’re comfortable, or you could wait for the fix in 4.4.2.

Also confirming the patch solved my problem. Wish I found this solution many hours earlier…but glad to have it working for our site.

Be very careful when editing the file as it can break your site. ?? Only edit in a plain-text or code editor – not a word processor.

Also, ETA till 4.4.2?

For those not following the core ticket or who haven’t yet fixed the issue on their site, Dion just posted a new fix which just involves replacing one file, so a bit easier for those not comfortable editing core files. You can check it out in this comment:

Is it easier to revert to 4.4? I’m having the same pagination issue. And I don’t have enough knowledge to add the patch to the back end…

“I forgot to mention that pagination links redirect to homepage instead of redirecting to 404 page. In other words, pagination links should be working fine yet I couldn’t find out the reason why it’s redirecting back to home. ”

Attempting to revert back to 4.4 is much harder than replacing one file in your install. Perhaps you can find someone in your local WordPress community to help you replace this one file via FTP:

WordPress 4.4.2 was released today and should fix this pagination issue. For those with auto-updates enabled, your install should update itself within 1-2 days, or you can use the Update button in your dashboard or update manually via FTP.
