WordPress 4.5 and Visual Composer 4.9 Issues

    So I’m using the construction theme by wp charming and upon updating to version 4.5 of wordpress, my stocked (non-manually updateable) visual composer is essentially broken. I click on any page and all the editing components are gone, it’s just a blank page.

    Here’s a link to two images of the admin options of the sites I’m working on (the first is the issue site, and the other is the functional visual composer). Link to images

    A couple things to note: First off, the issue site is wordpress v4.5, with a stock visual composer v4.9. The functional admin site is wordpress v4.4.2, with a purchased visual composer v4.11.1.

    Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Are you using the Visual Composer plugin? Does the issue improve if you deactivate that plugin?

    Visual Composer people say a fix has been submitted to envato and awaiting approval for release.

    I updated wordpress to 4.5 and afterwards I’ve updated my Visual composer plugin to 4.11.2, everything seemed to work properly but then I found that all pages using accordion module are not showing anymore this module on the frontend, despite it’s visible on the backoffice.

    In addition, I’d like to point out that the site logo is not appearing. We are using Bridge theme updated to its last version and Visual composer 4.11.1

    i am also facing the same problem, but i think i should downgrade from 4.5 to 4.4.2. any one knows the solution?

    I think the whole thing is simply foolish… at least.

    EVERY TIME there is a wordpress upgrade, an enormous percent of wordpress websites in the world get broken…
    Customers who paid web agencies for a website, have to pay again to solve problems on EVERY new release.
    And if you don’t upgrade wordpress… well… good luck! it’s just a matter of time and your website will fall on some hackers attack.

    Maybe the fault is to plugins and themes developers, but this architecture is simply unsustainable.

    The only way is to use another CMS.

    Funnily enough, it works fine for lots of other people. Especially the ones that use free themes and free plugins.

    If you’re having issues with a theme or plugin breaking every time you upgrade the software, then perhaps you should reconsider your decision to use that theme or plugin. Just saying that sometimes, it might not be worth the hassle. Everybody has to make that value call themselves.

    WordPress 4.5 has been in beta for 2 months. Plugin and theme authors have had all that time to be able to update their systems and get those updates to users. *Two months*. How much longer should we wait, exactly? If some author can’t be bothered to fix their code for two months and get those fixes to their users, then that’s on them. If a theme author is using code from elsewhere that breaks and a fix is available for a whole month in advance, then that’s on them. My only sustainable advice is to stop using that theme, or that plugin, or code from that author. Their inaction has broken your site. Not the upgrade.

    Perhaps you are using the wrong agency. ??

    All and any WP and plugin issues which arise due to updates are fixed by many agencies free of charge, as I also do. It’s not the client’s fault or responsibility. ??

    A few things before I close this, since the fix is, officially, “Upgrade Visual Composer”

    If you’re using Visual Composer and cannot upgrade, you will have to roll back to WP 4.4.2. However as a business suggestion, please remember that it’s best practice to test before you upgrade. WP releases Beta and RCs, and you’re urged to test. if WP is your business, this is your job.

    If your theme bundles other plugins and they’re not updated, it’s time to quit that theme and get one that understands how to do business.
