• On my website, after updating to WordPress 5.7, the classic editor stopped working properly.
When I opened a page created with the classic editor, the page appeared repeatedly and could not be edited. (Press the stop button on your browser to stop it)
It turned out that this was probably due to a conflict with another SEO plugin (hpbseo), but it worked fine until WordPress 5.6, so Is not the classic editor is no longer compatible with WordPress 5.7?

  • I’m also having problems with the plugin now working with 5.7 …. I go to update and get a blank white page…host has checked all mod rules server errors etc and it is nothing to do with host and server side….

I’ve managed to get all working….

If I were you I would try deactivating and then deleting the SEO plugin it is conflicting with, then reinstall that SEO plugin, that’s what worked for me.

    Hello! Kanger,

I just now tried according to your suggestion as follows, but unfortunately the result was NG.

    * Disable hpbseo plugin → Uninstall → Install hpbseo plugin → Enable → Edit blog of classic editor → Edit screen becomes abnormal (redisplay repeatedly, And the biggest problem is that the posted content is updated without permission!)

In addition, the following deprecated script is pointed out by jQuery Migrate in hpbseo, but we can not deal with it because we have not found a way to fix it so far. The creator has no plans to update it either.

    * 2021-02-14 11:04:54 jQuery (window) .on (\’load \’…) called after load event occurred Plugin: hpb seo plugin for WordPress

In any case, the classic editor worked fine in WordPress 5.6, so I hope the classic editor works in WordPress 5.7.

In addition, this phenomenon does not improve even if you set “jQuery version = legacy 1.12.4-wp” in the jQuery Migrate setting, so I think that there is still a problem with the classic editor.

By the way, the result was the same even if I uninstalled the classic editor and then reinstalled it.

For reference, in the settings in Advanced Editor Tools, “Keep paragraph tags in classic blocks and classic editors” is turned on.

Unfortunately, upgrading to WordPress 5.7.1 still doesn’t fix on the classic editor’s bug.

I have the same issue. Deactivate all plugins except classic editor and activate the Twenty Twenty-One theme.
