I don’t know a lot of the answers to to the questions on the list. I’ve asked the guy who edits my site for help, but he has a regular job and I’d like help now. I can get those answers if needed.

When I try to apply a watermark to a gallery, it doesn’t apply it to all the images, and after it is finished it gives me these error messages, for somewhere between 7-16 images:

    ID 4352: A failure occurred
    ID 4353: A failure occurred
    ID 4354: A failure occurred
    ID 4355: A failure occurred
    ID 4356: A failure occurred
    ID 4357: A failure occurred
    ID 4358: A failure occurred
    ID 4359: A failure occurred
    ID 4360: A failure occurred
    ID 4361: A failure occurred
    ID 4362: A failure occurred

I have to flip through the images, find which are missing, update their watermarks, clear my cache, and repeat. For over 700 images, this is very time consuming and taxing.

@pauladaviswp – Is there any sort of additional details available when you see the “failure” messages?

No, after the process finishes, a rectangular window with a black bar pops up in the middle of the screen. In the black bar at the top, it says “set watermark” and then each time in the white space below that, it has the ID ####: A failure occurred for however many images. I can’t click on them or anything.

I set the watermark for about 15 images earlier, and they all worked, but once I tried to do the full 50 per page, that’s when I hit an error.

@pauladaviswp – You might be hitting a memory limit issue, have you checked your server’s error_log files to see if there are any indications there?

You could also try boosting up your PHP Memory Limit to 128 or 256 (preferred) to see if that will get around this apparent limit of 15 or so images.

Also, are these images large or small? What would be the typical dimensions in pixels? Large images will consume your available resources faster than smaller images and processing 50 images at a time may be overrunning what resources you have available for this operation.

I deleted all the other galleries that I didn’t need at the moment. I’m not sure that I had error_log files set up, so I set them up, ran it again, and it now has four empty files with names like 4c9331f0-error.log.

PHP: Boosted to 256, same problem.

    These images are 800×533 px.

@pauladaviswp – The only other things I can think of (and they are a real stretch) is possible conflicts with other plugins or the active theme.

Have you tried deactivating all other plugins and temporarily switching to a default WordPress Twenty series theme and then trying to add the Watermarks?

Beyond that, one of our developers may need to look under the page at your site. Would you be able to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with your site’s specifics. We will need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with your Bug Report.

    Thanks!

Thank you. I tried that and it didn’t work.

I will do so, thank you Cais.

@pauladaviswp – I did respond to your Bug Report … let’s carry on the conversation there until we can sort out what the issue may be.

    Thanks!
