WordPress 6.5 + Divi = Fatal Error

    Hello, just discovered a big problem after accidentally upgrading to WordPress 6.5 and after debugging I found that the combination to generate it.

    It can be easily reproduce by install a fresh version of

    ? WordPress 6.5
    ? Latest version of Divi
    ? Latest version of Modula

    No other plugins installed.

    The error is the following:

  • @razan, I’m sure that it was related to Modula. With my two sites that just updated to 6.5 and with all plugins disabled the site would come back up without the fatal error. With all plugins disabled, except Modula the fatal error would return.

    However, with the new update that appears to have corrected whatever was going on. Thank you for the quick turnaround.

    I have the same problem. It is not possible to login the WordPress Dashboard. What can I do to fix it.

    Hello @sandrafelke,

    If you are unable to login to the admin dashboard, please use your host account or FTP to delete the Modula plugin and afterwards install the new version. This should be safe, you won’t lose any data, the files just need to be updated.

    2 options, FTP or using a File Manager on your hosting

    1. Go to wp-content/plugins/
    2. Rename modula-best-grid-gallery folder, adding for example “_” and the beginning.
    3. Then you will be able to login to the backend and go to Plugins page.
    4. At this point, you can rename the modula-best-grid-gallery because this plugin should be deactviated
    5. Update the plugin
    6. Re-enable the plugin

    Hi all, just wanted to confirm that Drake’s solution is the way to go, regardless of the plugin in question. For me it went like this:

    • critical error message on the web
    • checked the error log and saw the same error as you (only the plugin affected was different
    • based on Drake’s input, I renamed the plugin in question and the website was back up
