WordPress admin panel loaded with ????

I have updated to 3.8 and have lost my images. even in the themes selection option, where there should be images of the themes I just have pictures of ? ? ? Please help. I tried uploading a new theme, uninstalling and reinstalling and it doesn’t seem to work?
