WORDPRESS AND FREE HOSTING

  • I am trying to install wordpress with 000webhost.com which is the free hosting service which doesn’t allow free customers to install using fantastico.
    I am so frustrated, I have tried several times, I set up my database in mysql, add the details to the sample config file and rename to config, and upload using the hosts FTP programme, as I can’t seem to get the right combination of log in details to use filezilla. I am still getting an error when trying to run the set up, guided to this page

    Can anyone help me here – nameservers are pointed to 000webhost.

    it’s error 404 and I just get taken to the hosting website, the link is above, sorry that’s all i have?

    What is your site’s url supposed to be, working or not?

    the url is tomhealycarpentry.com and very definitely not working

    When you edited wp-config.php you got something wrong– probably a missing quote mark. See if you can spot it. Its really helpful to have a text editor that will highlight code, by the way– PSPad, jEdit, Kate, for example.

    Be aware of 000webhost.com. I lost all my data there, and they can delete all your data without warning and with no good reason except you are using their free services! Create your backups very often, and try to migrate to other host. There are many low paid host providers offering very good services.

    Good advice as all this free hosting will have some sort ads on your wordpress so they get return out of it if they find that there is no return they can shut you down.

    If you want to learn how to use wordpress until you are ready then best way is to install a server like wamp locally and learn wordpress I have articles and video on my website on how use wordpress locally click on my name.
