WordPress and MySQLi

    Now that PHP has deprecated mysql (PHP extension for accessing MySQL databases), and requires MySQLi (mysql improved) or PDO to access MySQL data, I’ve gotta revive the old question – when will WordPress “move” to MySQLi?

    I think my other plugin is the road we need to take but for now I use this code since it also supports PDO. The main issue I now have is if we can do some backwards compatibility support for plugins calling mysql_* functions directly.
