WordPress App can't connect to Self-Hosts WP instance
-
New WordPress Admin here…
OK… I have self-hosted WP 3.8.1 instance that I’ve secured with SSL/HTTPS.
The iPhone/iPad app WORKS when connected to the local network, however, once the device goes to LTE/4G/3G it won’t authenticate. Essentially, it leaves the device logged in, but won’t allow PUBLISHING of new posts. Other functionality might also not work, I have not tested that part.
I should note, that I _CAN_ post from Safari, when not connected to the internal network. So it’s something to do with the WordPress App and how it is using xmlrpc. I also verified the xmlrpc configuration (https://ios.www.ads-software.com/faq/#faq_3) by putting the URL in the Safari Browser… and it returns the “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.” as expected.
I saw, on your FAQ (https://ios.www.ads-software.com/faq/#faq_11 – Can I use SSL to encrypt the app communication) “For self-hosted WordPress, if you have SSL enabled, WordPress 2.6.1 or later supports pointing the RSD information at the “https” version of xmlrpc.php which creates an encrypted communication link with the App.”
BUT… the FAQ doesn’t link to a HOW-TO.
