"wordpress" appended to url when accessing my domain

    Say my domain name is https://www.mydomain.com

    Well when I access the home page the url appears as …
    https://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/

    How do I get rid of the “wordpress”?

    I’m guessing I’ve maybe installed the website in the wrong directory?! Don’t want to change anything in case I mess things up so would appreciate a little help. Thanks
