• Resolved Made In Michigan

I was maintaining 2 WordPress installations that used the same theme, categories, plugins – the main site michigan-made.com and the Shop site which was in a separate directory michigan-made.com/shop (created before WordPress multisite became available).

It’s too much work to make changes to both sites when revisions needed done, so I decided to move the Shop site’s pages to the main site and delete the Shop WordPress site.

Everything is moved and I deleted the Shop WordPress site. But when I try to create a “Shop” page within the main site, WordPress appends a number to the slug – such as michigan-made.com/shop3. It appears that WordPress thinks the shop directory still exits – which it doesn’t and there are no other posts or pages with the /shop path. I need the Shop page to have the URL of michigan-made.com/shop. NOTE: Currently I’m using a 301 redirect to redirect /shop to /buy-michigan (the new Shop page).

    Any help is appreciated!
    Clark

Try emptying your Post and Page Trash.

Thank you esmi – I did, but didn’t help. Any other suggestions?

It won’t help after the relevant Post or Page has been published. What you would need to do now is copy the content from one of these Pages, delete it, empty your Trash and then re-create it.

Found the problem! On the Network Admin > Sites page, the /shop/ site was still listed there. I deleted it there and now the /shop path for the new Shop page is correct. Thanks for your help.
