WordPress builtin search doesn't order results by date
-
I have WP 3.9.1 and use a modified version of BTExtended theme.
Recently, I upgraded from WP 3.2.1 to 3.9.1, and noticed that the builtin search no longer orders results by date. It is like there are ranges of the results that are ordered by date, but the ranges are kind of rearranged.
I tried writing in the orderby=date parameter in the URL after getting the results list, and that worked. Hitting return brings up the same results list, but now correctly arranged according to date, in descending order.
What is it that has changed in the builtin search, and where can I pass a parameter to builtin search that I want results to be ordered by date?
I have the same problem in the admin panel, by the way. When I am viewing recent posts at the /wp-admin/edit.php page, and try writing something into the “Search Posts” field, and hit return, the results I get are NOT ordered by date! They are ordered according to the same strange semi-chronological system. Some ranges are ordered by date, but the list is kind of reshuffled.
Has anyone experienced the same problem, and what could be the solution?
