    That’s weird.

    This works

This tanks and gets an empty reply from the server.

That’s not good and didn’t do that in the past…

    Hi Jan,

Haha, it is. I never had it happen before but searching for terms related to plugin I keep running into them and it seems more and more.

Glad to point it out and that you see it. I thought it was me at first but it has been persistent after cleaning cache and all I could do.

Is the right place to post something like this?

Yes, it is. When something on the www.ads-software.com site breaks this is the place to report it. ??

Workaround for now: Don’t search for the word “plugin”. Everything in there is a plugin. That term doesn’t help you anyway.

    Hey Jan, thanks!

    Hey Samuel, thanks!
    – Though actually the term plugin for this is needed/specific. I searched without the term plugin as well. What I am looking for doesn’t see to yet be available (so far).

I want to place my plugins into 4 categorized folders on the ftp side.

Exactly what this plugin does but is not working..

It would be awesome if WordPress automatically scanned any folders & 1 depth subfolders in the plugins directory for its list of plugins available. Then I could just move them freely to organize them.

Do you know of anyway I might achieve this or can point me somewhere in the right direction?

As far as I know, there is no good way short of modifying core. The get_plugins function only scans the php files in the plugins root and in one level deep subdirectories (like /wp-content/plugins/subdir/file.php).

That function simply is not pluggable or filterable. A plugin changing a fundamental thing about how plugins work is some bad mojo, honestly.

Also, moving your plugins around, very likely to break the built in upgrade system. I’d forget the idea. Very weird, not much gain.

    Hey Samuel!

    Thanks for the input!

Cool. I won’t be modifying the core or using that plugin.
