For several months, my site has been down and I get emails with the message “WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Jetpack.” But all of the links in the email to fix this problem do not work. Then when I tried to change my password to log into to www.ads-software.com again, my email address, which is linked to my website, was not found. I had to register with a new profile. So I cannot access my account or log into it at all. I cannot even find any link to the wordpress dashboard page login. Is this a differnt login in? It all just seems to be gone or blocked. I guess I need to trash the whole website now, but have no idea how to even do this. Any help would be truly appreciated it. I have avoided looking into this for months. Thanks.

The login to the backend is always accessible under /wp-admin/ and /wp-login.php.

If your login is incorrect and “Forgot password” does not work, you can reset a password via your hosting access in the database as described here: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/reset-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin – contact your hoster’s support if you need assistance with this.

As soon as you are logged into the backend again, you should first install all outstanding updates. As you have apparently not been logged into the project for some time, you should also carry out a malware scan – just to make sure that your project has not been hacked. This plugin will help: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordfence/

You should then check whether and for what you need the Jetpack plugin. Since it seems to have led to errors more often, you may want to do without it.

If you want to delete your website completely, contact your hoster’s support team. All files would have to be deleted and the database emptied.
