WordPress classic editor paste page auto scroll down (Work Around)

About 1 year ago, someone posted a support request for a problem with the Classic Editor when pasting text into the editor the editor page scrolls.

I too had the issue of the page scroll when pasting text into the editor when there was enough content for the page to scroll.

The reason for me posting it again here is to update that post with a work-around fix, since that post has since been closed to new replies.

Problem
When there is enough content on the page using the Classic Editor, pasting any text will cause the page to scroll downward.

Cause
The cause is two fold.
1. The setting, “Enable full-height editor and distraction-free functionality“, for the editor in “Screen Options”.
2. Using a Firefox browser (includes variants: WaterFox and Firefox Nightly).

Testing
I tested this issue in all major browsers (Firefox, Opera, Edge, Chrome).
The issue persisted only in a Firefox browser and its variants. This issue did not occur in the other major browsers.

This issue only occurs in Firefox browsers.

Work-Around
Since Firefox is the only browser suffering this issue, there are 2 methods:

1. Deactivate “Enable full-height editor and distraction-free functionality” in screen options. This stops the issue reoccurring.

2. If you like to keep the “Enable full-height editor and distraction-free functionality” setting activated, then **do not use** the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+V) or the windows keyboard shortcut of pasting as plain text (CTRL+SHIFT+V).
Instead use the Firefox browser **right-click submenu** selection “Paste” or “Paste as plain text“.

Note: You will need to refresh the page for the work-around #1 to work.
