• Hi all,

I’m having lots of trouble getting my website back up, and need a lot of assistance:

I recently had to reinstall the OS on my Synology DS412+ NAS due to a security threat, and now my WordPress site simply doesn’t work, I can’t even logon to wordpress dashboard. I don’t even know where to begin….

When navigating to any of the following, I get a white screen:
    myurl/wordpress/login
    myurl/wordpress/wp-login
    myurl/wordpress/wp-admin.php

I’ve checked my wp-config.php file for the correct database info, and also selected “repair table” in phpMyAdmin but nothing works.

Ive also tried renaming my original wordpress directory to wordpress_temp, and copying a fresh wordpress directory in there. Here I can get the wordpress to start the installation process, add my database info, and then tells me “it seems you already have an installation of WordPress – log in”. I then get a horrible looking login page (all shifted to the left) and my login attempts redirect me to a “Synology can’t find page” page.

I’m completely lost. It’s a web page for my upcoming wedding, which was ready to be announced this week.

I would really appreciate some help here.

  • So your WordPress install is on your Synology NAS? Can you even make it accessible over the internet? Probably doable but you’d likely want to lock things down a *lot* before doing so. Anyway it sounds like the NAS update may have changed some webserver settings (is it using Apache?). I’d start there. Also look at any error logs that might be produced by from the issue – it could give you clues about what’s happening and where the point of failure is occurring.

    Thanks for the support!

Yea, it’s on the NAS. Everything is working nicely, and is secured. Photostation etc works too, so that’s confirmation that I’m able to access the “web” directory over the net.

I’ve enabled the debuginfo already in wp-config.php, but nothing.

    Thanks again anyway.

Ok, I’m a little further now, but I could _really_ do with some help…

I’ve disabled the plugins, by simply renaming the plugin directory.

Now I can see the core content of my website i.e. the data stored in the database. This suggest that the wp-config.php file is correct, and the database readable.

The core content displayed is without theme. Which suggest that the theme isn’t loading. I still cannot login to the WP dashboard though.

Anything that might help would be greatly appreciated.

    Solved.

It would be great if you could mention the reason what caused it and how you managed to fix it. It might help somebody in the future.
