• Hi,

I run a WordPress-based blog dealing with software development. Many of my articles have the tag “C#”.

When I write an article with the tag “C++”, it’s being saved as “C#” instead. Even when I start typing “C++” to add it as a tag to the article, it doesn’t get suggested like all my other tags.

Any info on why this is happening please? I’m guessing for some reason the symbols are being filtered out so WordPress is thinking they’re the same tag.

@dandago, yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like to me. The symbols don’t get included in the tag’s slug name, so both C# and C++ would result in the slug name c; and WP doesn’t allow two tags to have the same slug name.

So, you’d need to create C++ as a separate tag under Posts → Tags, by giving it a unique slug name (for example, c-plus-plus), so as to distinguish it from the existing C# tag and its c slug name.

Thanks for the tip, that works nicely. ??
